Our university's academic staff continues to play important roles in scientific knowledge production with their work in the international arena. In this context, another significant achievement was made within the Task Force on National Greenhouse Gas Inventories (TFI) under the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).
Dr. Aytaç Perihan Akan, Assistant Professor at the Department of Environmental Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Hacettepe University, has been selected as the lead author of the 2027 IPCC Methodology Report entitled “Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR) Technologies and Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage (CCUS)” Dr. Akan will serve as lead author for a two-year period covering 2026–2027. In this role, she will represent Turkey and Hacettepe University at the international level.
The 2027 IPCC Methodology Report aims to provide additional methodological guidance on how CDR technologies and CCUS applications should be incorporated into greenhouse gas accounting and reporting systems for use in the preparation of national greenhouse gas inventories.
