Hacettepe University Achieves Great Success: Ranked First in Turkey in the NTU World Ranking

The results of the 2025 Performance Ranking of Scientific Papers for World Universities, one of the most prestigious global rankings based on scientific publication performance, have been announced. In the ranking published by National Taiwan University (NTU), Hacettepe University ranked first among universities in Turkey. Out of 1,317 universities evaluated worldwide, Hacettepe placed 631st overall, marking a significant achievement.

Why Is the NTU Ranking So Important?

Published since 2007, the NTU Ranking differs from other systems. It does not consider advertising, reputation, or exceptional achievements like Nobel Prizes. Instead, it evaluates universities solely on the quality and quantity of their scientific papers.

The methodology is based on three main principles:

Quality-Oriented Evaluation: 75% of the total score comes from indicators such as the h-index, which measure the quality and impact of publications.

Measuring Current Performance: About 50% of the score reflects universities’ scientific progress in the past year, rewarding recent achievements.

Reliable Data Sources: The evaluation relies on Clarivate Web of Science (WOS) and Essential Science Indicators (ESI) data.
