The results of the 2026 National Taiwan University (NTU) Performance Ranking of Scientific Papers for World Universities have been announced. This year's ranking evaluated the research performance of 1,243 universities worldwide based on scientific publications.
Hacettepe University climbed 34 places, rising from 631st in 2025 to 597th in the 2026 edition of the rankings. The University was also ranked second in Türkiye.
In addition to its improvement in the overall ranking, Hacettepe University strengthened its performance in the subject rankings. In Immunology, the University moved up from 240th to 212th, reflecting continued progress in research performance in the field.
About the Methodology
The NTU Performance Ranking of Scientific Papers for World Universities is one of the leading international rankings that evaluates universities solely on their research performance. The methodology is based on three broad dimensions: research productivity (25%), research impact (35%), and research excellence (40%).
The ranking considers a range of bibliometric indicators, including publication output over the past 11 years and the most recent two years, citation performance, average citations, the H-index, highly cited papers, and articles published in high-impact journals. In addition to the overall ranking, NTU also publishes rankings across six broad fields and 27 subject areas, providing a comprehensive assessment of research performance across academic disciplines.
Hacettepe University's Performance Profile
According to the 2026 results, Hacettepe University received an overall score of 49.5. Its performance scores were 54.1 for publications over the past 11 years, 57.2 for publications in the most recent two years, 47.9 for citations over the past 11 years, 52.4 for citations in the most recent two years, 31.9 for average citations, 57.7 for the H-index, 45.8 for highly cited papers, and 48.7 for articles published in high-impact journals.
