The best are moving forward hand in hand with Hacettepe University

Following the completion of the 2026 YKS and the university application process, a total of 5,219 students were admitted to Hacettepe University, comprising 4,125 undergraduate and 1,094 foundation-year students. Miraç Koşar, who topped the TYT, was admitted to the Department of Medicine (English) at our university’s Faculty of Medicine.

The placement results for the 2026 Higher Education Institutions Examination (YKS) were announced on 18 August 2026. Once again this year, Hacettepe University topped the list of preferences for the most successful students. According to the data, a total of 5,219 students were placed at our university, comprising 4,125 in undergraduate programmes and 1,094 in foundation programmes. Miraç Koşar, who topped the TYT, also chose Hacettepe. Koşar was admitted to the Department of Medicine (English) at our university’s Faculty of Medicine.

Highest average score in the last six years
This year, our university achieved its highest average score for undergraduate and foundation programmes in the last six years. The average score for students admitted to our university’s undergraduate programmes was 450, whilst the average score for students admitted to foundation programmes was 372. Significant increase in first-choice rate
Of the total 5,219 students admitted to Hacettepe University, 1,441 listed our university as their first choice. According to the data, the proportion of students admitted to our university who listed Hacettepe University as their first choice rose this year from 22.7 per cent to 27.6 per cent. The 4.9 per cent increase compared to last year was particularly noteworthy.

The rise in first-choice rates was reflected in both undergraduate and foundation degree programmes. Last year, the first-choice rate for students admitted to our undergraduate programmes stood at 21.4 per cent; this year, it reached 27.2 per cent, marking a 5.8 per cent increase. This rise in the first-choice rate for undergraduate programmes once again demonstrated our university’s high appeal among applicants. In associate degree programmes, the first-choice rate, which stood at 28.3 per cent last year, rose to 29.1 per cent this year.

27.5 per cent of the top 1,000 chose Hacettepe
The published data has once again highlighted Hacettepe University’s success. According to the 2026 YKS placement results, whilst 6 candidates from the top 100 chose our university, 275 of those ranked within the top 1,000 also selected our university. The data indicates that the proportion of candidates within the top 1,000 who chose our university increased by 3.5 per cent compared to the previous year, reaching 27.5 per cent.

989 candidates from the top 5,000 chose our university
Of the 4,125 students who gained the right to enrol in Hacettepe University’s undergraduate programmes as a result of the 2026-YKS preference process, 989 were ranked within the top 5,000. Based on these figures, approximately 20 per cent of students ranked within the top 5,000 chose our university.

37.8 per cent of our newly enrolled undergraduate students are ranked within the top 10,000
Of the 4,125 students who have gained the right to enrol on undergraduate programmes at Hacettepe University, 1,560 are ranked within the top 10,000. According to the data, the proportion of students gaining the right to enrol on undergraduate programmes remained stable this year, standing at 37.8 per cent.

A notable rise in Hacettepe’s programmes
Hacettepe University’s programmes have shown a notable rise, reflected in the increases in the minimum entry scores in the YKS data. According to the data, the strongest rise occurred in the German Language Teaching (German) programme, with an increase of 48.64 points. This was followed by Turkish Folklore with an increase of 26.61 points, Surveying Engineering (English) with 26.47 points, Nursing with 26.08 points, and Hydrogeology Engineering with 25.51 points. Contemporary Turkish Dialects and Literatures (25.03 points), Occupational Therapy (24.51 points), Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation (24.49 points), Primary School Mathematics Teaching (23.98 points) and Physics Engineering (23.84 points) were among the top 10 programmes showing the greatest increases. This rise, spanning various academic fields, reflected the strong student interest in Hacettepe University’s programmes in the minimum entry scores.
