The international higher education ranking organization Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) has announced the “2026 World University Rankings by Subject.” In the 2026 rankings, 6273 universities worldwide were analyzed, and 1908 universities qualified for inclusion in the rankings.
Ranking Criteria
QS uses various indicators such as academic reputation, employer reputation, research impact and the h-index to determine its rankings. These indicators provide a detailed assessment of our university’s performance across different disciplines.
Hacettepe University’s Success in 2026
According to the QS 2026 results, Hacettepe University has continued its track record of international success by ranking in all five major subject areas. Our university is ranked among the top 500 worldwide in all subject areas.

By maintaining a consistent upward trend in subfield performance, our university has further strengthened its international academic visibility.
Newly Ranked Disciplines
In the 2026 QS World University Rankings by Subject, two new fields from our university entered the list for the first time. English Language and Literature made a strong debut in the 301-350 band, while Politics & International Studies entered in the 301-400 range.
On a national level, Hacettepe University ranked first in Turkey in Library & Information Management, Nursing, Medicine, Pharmacy, Biological Sciences, and Modern Languages. Furthermore, consistent with the previous year, Hacettepe remains the only university from Turkey to be ranked in the field of Library and Information Management.
This achievement once again demonstrates Hacettepe University’s academic excellence and its competitiveness on a global scale.

When evaluated in terms of key performance indicators, the highest-scoring fields of Hacettepe University within the ranked subcategories are as follows: Nursing received the highest score in Academic Reputation (70.6), while English Language and Literature led in Employer Reputation (71.2). Dentistry achieved the highest scores in both Citations per Paper (85.7) and H-Index (82.2). Finally, Medicine recorded the highest score in the International Research Network (64.8) category.
