The second phase of the cooperation agreement with Bukhara State University took place with a concert and masterclass organized as part of the Ankara State Conservatory’s 90th-anniversary celebrations.
Hacettepe University continues to expand its cultural and academic networks through bilateral agreements with international universities.
The second phase of the bilateral agreement between our university and Bukhara State University, the first phase of which was held at Bukhara State University on April 22–24, 2025, was completed on April 21–24, 2026. Aimed at strengthening the deep-rooted historical and cultural ties between Turkey and Uzbekistan through the arts, this phase of the protocol was organized under the auspices of our university as part of the 90th-anniversary celebrations of the Hacettepe University Ankara State Conservatory. The event, coordinated by our university’s faculty member Prof. Dr. Ayten Kaplan and doctoral student Necdet Kurt, took place at the Ankara State Conservatory Concert Hall with a large audience in attendance. As part of the second phase, a concert was performed by the Ensemble of the Department of Music Performance and Culture at Bukhara State University; on April 22, 2026, a masterclass on Uzbek music and instruments was held.
During the masterclass, students and participants had the opportunity to exchange insights on the similarities and differences between Turkish and Uzbek music. The events were organized with the aim of gaining a deeper understanding of Uzbek musical culture and strengthening lasting artistic and academic collaborations between Turkish and Uzbek musical traditions.
The concert, which was not merely a stage performance but also served as an important step in contributing to cultural diplomacy and strengthening mutual understanding and friendship, concluded with a piece reflecting the friendship between Turkey and Uzbekistan, performed by the Ensemble of the Department of Music Performance and Culture at Bukhara State University.
The second phase of the project was implemented in collaboration with Hacettepe University, TIKA, and the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality, with the support of Tokat MP Kadir Durmaz.
The first phase of the project, launched last year, took place at Bukhara State University; it featured Turkish music seminars and masterclasses in instrumental and vocal performance, with the participation of Prof. Dr. Ayten Kaplan and a doctoral student from the Institute of Fine Arts specializing in Traditional Turkish Music. Following these events, assessments were made indicating that this collaboration between the two universities would evolve into a sustainable partnership through joint concerts, academic studies, and student exchange programs in the coming period.
