Prof. Dr. Arzu Topeli Iskit was the chairperson of the 16th World Intensive and Critical Care Congress, which took place in Istanbul

The 16th World Intensive and Critical Care Congress ("WICC2023" https://wicc2023.org/) being one of the most important and prestigious events related with intensive care medicine was held in Istanbul Convention Center, in the 100th anniversary of the Turkish Republic.

This Congress is the official congress of the World Federation of Intensive and Critical Care, held in different cities of the World biennially, and Prof. Dr. Arzu Topeli Iskit, the chairperson of the Department of Internal Medicine and Intensive Care of our University, was the chairperson of this Congress, which was supported by Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency and Turkish Scientific and Technological Research Council. Asst. Prof. Dr. Burcin Halacli, Asst. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Yildirim and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Goksel Guven from our University were in the organizing committee of this Congress, as well.  

Among the rare face-to-face meetings after the COVID-19 pandemic and the global disasters, scientists, physicians and healthcare professionals from 80 different countries had the opportunity to discuss and share current knowledge and scientific findings, establish international networks in the field of intensive, acute and critical care medicine. Around 1500 participants, 200 speakers attended the Congress consisting of around 100 sessions.    

Contributing to the promotion of our country, WICC2023 was widely acclaimed regarding its scientific and social aspects.
