Awards to 2 of our faculty members at the Eczacıbaşı Medical Awards

This year, 2 of our faculty members were rewarded at the Dr. Nejat F. Eczacıbaşı Medical Awards, organized by the Eczacıbaşı Group to support medical and pharmaceutical sciences since 1959.

In the 64th year of the Dr. Nejat F. Eczacıbaşı Medical Awards, the "Medical Science Award" was given to our university's Faculty of Medicine, Department of Child Health and Diseases faculty member Prof. Dr. Seza Özen, and the "Medical Honor Award" was given to the Faculty of Medicine, Department of Child Health and Diseases. Prof. Dr. İmran Özalp, retired faculty member of the department, was deemed worthy.
Seza Özen, who was deemed worthy of the Medical Science Award, received this award because he played an important role in the development of the discipline of 'pediatric rheumatology' both in Turkey and internationally with his studies, and because he introduced the 'Ankara Criteria' on childhood vasculitis to the world medical literature.
The Medicine Honor Award was given to İmran Özalp, who pioneered the launch of the 'Newborn Screening' program in Turkey, which is of great importance in the monitoring and treatment of the disease, as well as preventing the 'phenylketonuria' disease seen in children with diet treatment of mental retardation.
