Turkey's most attended "UNI101: Introduction to University Life" course, held at our university, was held at Beytepe Campus Open Amphitheatre, with the participation of 7 thousand 390 students. At the UNI101 event, designed to facilitate the adaptation process to university life for students who settled in Hacettepe in the 2023 - 2024 academic year, 100 student groups welcomed new students with their promotional stands.
At the opening ceremony of the “UNI101: Introduction to University Life” course, our Rector Prof. Dr. Mehmet Cahit Güran made a speech and said: “Dear students, I wholeheartedly congratulate you for your success in the YÖK exam and your success in being among the 8 thousand 123 students who were accepted to our university this year. Welcome to our Hacettepe family. Our dear Mustafa Özcan, who came first in Turkey in the field proficiency exam numerical group in the university exam this year, is also among us. I also congratulate him for his success and choosing us. I hope that your university life, which you have started today, will be stimulating and full of outstanding success. “You will feel the privilege and pride of being a Hacettepe resident throughout your life.”
Our Rector Güran emphasized the importance of the ÜNİ101: Introduction to University Life course and said, “The ÜNİ101 course was created to give clues to all our new students who have joined the Hacettepe family to benefit from university life effectively and versatilely and to provide them with a road map in their new adventures. "It is aimed for you, our dear students, to develop the identity of Hacettepe and to get to know its campuses, academic units, social and cultural opportunities," he said.
Giving advice to new students, Prof. Dr. Mehmet Cahit Güran said, “Dear young people, you, as adults, are now responsible for your education. You are now the absolute decision maker on matters such as course selection, attending classes, studying for exams. At this point, my advice to you as a teacher is to be a professional student, not an ordinary one. "Plan now what you will do after receiving your diploma and your education life." said.
The event was held after the speech of our Rector Güran, our university's Faculty of Medicine Retired Faculty Member Prof. Dr. It continued with Emin Kansu's first lecture titled "Nobel Prizes and the Importance of Curiosity in Science".
"Hacettepe University Symphony Orchestra" under the direction of Conductor Professor Burak Tüzün and "Hacettepe Brass Ensemble", consisting of academicians and students of Ankara State Conservatory, also gave a mini concert at the opening ceremony.
