Academic ranking organization Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) has released the 2024 Sustainability Ranking. This year, QS categorized universities into three distinct groups, namely "Social Impact," "Environmental Impact," and "Governance," to evaluate how they are addressing the world's most urgent global challenges under the theme of sustainability.
In comparison to the pilot edition conducted last year, where 700 universities were globally assessed, the number of evaluated universities has doubled to 1403 in 2024. The count of Turkish universities qualifying for the QS Sustainability 2024 ranking has also increased from 11 to 24.
Hacettepe University has demonstrated remarkable performance in the QS Sustainability 2024 rankings. The assessment, focusing on "Social Impact," "Environmental Impact," and "Governance," underscores the university's commitment to addressing global challenges.
In the QS World University Sustainability Ranking 2024, Hacettepe University secured the 408th position globally among all universities and the 5th position among Turkish universities. Further breakdowns of category rankings reveal the following:
• Environmental Impact: 394th
• Social Impact: 505th
• Governance: 580th
In the subcategories, Hacettepe University's strength in the "Social Impact" category is highlighted, with the university ranking 97th globally and 2nd in Turkey in the subcategory of "Knowledge Exchange."
