The London-based higher education ranking organization Times Higher Education (THE) has shared the results of its “2026 World University Rankings by Subject” with the public. In the 2026 rankings, where universities are evaluated according to the criteria of Teaching, Research Environment, Research Quality, Industry (Knowledge Transfer), and International Outlook, Hacettepe University improved its performance and achieved new successes.
Hacettepe ranked in the world rankings in a total of 10 fields
Expanding its success graph in the 2026 evaluation, Hacettepe University ranked in the world rankings in a total of 10 different fields. Continuing its rise in the health-related fields, our university attracted attention with the fields newly included in the list and its high “Industry Score” performance in engineering-based disciplines.
Psychology ranks for the first time
One of the most notable findings in this year's results was recorded in the field of Psychology. Hacettepe University entered the world rankings for the first time in the field of Psychology, placing in the 601+ band. A Research Environment score of 43.5 points demonstrated the contribution of Hacettepe University's academic infrastructure in this field to its international visibility.
Industry Score and Research Quality Data
When examining the score tables by field, the impact of the “Industry” and “Research Quality” scores on the university's position in the rankings was evident:
• Engineering: Maintaining its position in the overall rankings, the Engineering field achieved the university's highest score in this criterion with an Industry score of 76.1.
• Computer Science: This field recorded an Industry Score of 64.5 and a Research Quality score of 53.0.
• Social Sciences: With an Industry Score of 56.5, this field also reflected strong industry connections in the data.
• Education Studies: In the field of Education Studies, which ranks among the university's top tiers (251-300 band), it achieved scores of 47.6 for Research Quality and 47.1 for International Outlook.
Fields maintaining their current position despite increased competition
This year's evaluation saw increased competition in some fields compared to previous years. This year, 107 new universities in Engineering and 80 new universities in Medicine were included in the evaluation. Despite increased competition, Hacettepe University maintained its success in its band range. Hacettepe University's band range by field is as follows:
• Educational Studies: 251-300 band.
• Computer Science, Social Sciences, and Life Sciences: 601-800 band.
• Arts and Humanities: 601-800 band.
• Engineering and Business-Economics: 801-1000 band.
• Physical Sciences: 1001-1250 band.
THE 2026 data shows that Hacettepe University has increased its global competitiveness in the field of Medicine and Health, has been included in the international literature in new fields such as Psychology, and stands out in the fields of Engineering and Computer Science with industry-focused data.
