Times Higher Education (THE), one of the world's most prestigious academic ranking organizations, has published the results of its 2026 World University Rankings. The 2026 edition of the rankings included 2,091 institutions from 115 countries and regions. In the ranking, which evaluates world universities in terms of education, research environment, research quality, industry, and international outlook, Hacettepe University was ranked in the 801-1000 band. The number of universities in Turkey that made it into the ranking this year rose from 91 to 109. Hacettepe University ranked 9th in the national rank.
According to Hacettepe University's 2026 performance summary, its strong point was the Education category, where it ranked 533rd in the world rankings. In this field, our university rose from 711th place last year to 533rd place worldwide. The rise in the Education category was significantly contributed to by the increase in teaching reputation and improvements in the student-staff ratio; progress in these metrics created a noticeable leap in the main category.
Our university continued its upward trend in the sub-metrics of Research Strength (score 30.2) and Research Impact (score 84.1) within the Research Quality category compared to last year.
