THE 2024 Impact Rankings Announced: Hacettepe University Ranks in the Top 30 Globally For Quality Education

Times Higher Education (THE) has announced the 2024 University Impact Rankings, which evalute the societal, environmental, and social impacts of universities in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

For the 2024 Impact Rankings, 2,152 universities from 125 countries were evaluated, and 1,963 universities were included in the rankings. In 2023, 1,591 universities were ranked, indicating an increase of 372 universities over the past year, which represents a proportional growth of 23.4%. Hacettepe University maintained its position in the 201-300 band among the 1,963 universities globally, while its total score increased by 3 points from the previous year, reaching 83.6.

As known, the THE Impact Rankings include 17 Sustainable Development Goals. A university's total score for a given year is calculated by combining the score for SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) with the highest three scores from the other SDGs. Similar to the previous year, Hacettepe University provided data in 7 SDG categories and continued to rise in the rankings in 2024, despite the increase in the number of universities included in the rankings.

The situation of our university according to the 2024 THE Impact Rankings can be summarized as follows:

• In the overall ranking, our university maintained its position in the 201-300 range, consistent with last year's ranking.
• The total score increased by 3 points compared to the previous year, reaching 83.6.
• In SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being), SDG 4 (Quality Education), and SDG 5 (Gender Equality), the university improved its ranking compared to 2023, placing among the top 100 universities globally.

• Under SDG 3, our university ranked 57th worldwide and 1st in Turkey.

Under SDG 4, the university made significant progress compared to previous years, ranking 29th among global universities.

• Under SDG 5, the university achieved a major breakthrough, climbing 20 positions to rank 40th globally.
• In SDG 16, the university maintained its position in the 201-300 range, the same as last year.
