2025 Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings results announced

The “Global Sustainable Development Congress” organized by the international higher education ranking organization Times Higher Education (THE) was held in Istanbul this year, hosted by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK). The results of the 2025 World Universities Impact Rankings were announced at the congress. Despite the increase in the number of universities participating in the rankings each year (1963 in 2024, 2318 in 2025), Hacettepe University continues to steadily strengthen its global position and rise.

According to the results of the 2025 Impact Rankings announced by THE, Hacettepe University ranked in the 201-300 band among 2,318 higher education institutions and ranked high among the world universities with its efforts in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGS).

Hacettepe University stands out with its performance especially in SDG 3 - Health and Quality Life, SDG 4 - Quality Education, SDG 5 - Gender Equality and SDG 9 - Industry and Innovation and Infrastructure sustainability targets.

Hacettepe University's position in the rankings in these indicators is as follows;
•    SDG 3- Good Health and Wellbeing: Ranked between 101-200 band globally and 2nd in Türkiye

•    SDG 4- Quality Education: Ranked 60th globally and 8th in Türkiye

•    SDG 5- Gender Equality: Ranked 93rd globally and 3rd in Türkiye

•    SDG 9 - Industry and Innovation and Infrastructure: Ranks 101-200 in the world, 8th in Turkey (sharing the same place with 5 universities)

THE Impact Rankings 2025 – Hacettepe University Summary
•    In the General Ranking, although the number of universities included in the ranking increased by 418, it maintained its previous position by being in the 201-300 band.
•    The overall score slightly decreased by 1 point to 82.6.
•    Ranked among the top 100 globally in SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 5 (Gender Equality).
•    Declines were observed in rankings or scores for SDG 3, SDG 5, SDG 10, and SDG 16.
•    SDG 9 remained in the same band with a 1.2-point increase in score.
•    SDG 17 also remained in the same band, with a 4.6-point increase.
