The excavations of Küllüoba in Yenikent District of Seyitgazi district started in 1996 with the permission of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, General Directorate of Cultural Heritage and Museums. A team of 35 faculty members and students from Hacettepe and Batman Universities work under the leadership of Bilecik Şeyh Edebali University (BŞEU).
In the area where Hacettepe University Department of Anthropology Faculty Member Prof. Dr. Yılmaz Selim Erdal was among the team members, 25 cube-shaped tombs estimated to date back to approximately 5 thousand years were unearthed, and among them, the skeletons of children with their knees pulled to the abdomen, which is often referred to as the posture in the mother's womb. reached. In addition, seals, hair rings and jewelry were found in the jars.
After the skeletons in the jars in the burial area were removed, they were sent to Hacettepe University Ancient DNA Laboratory for examination. It will provide data such as diseases, causes of death and living conditions with studies on the skeletons. Ancient DNA studies will reveal kinship relationships more clearly.
