Naz Erdem, a Research Assistant in the Department of Food Engineering at our university, has achieved international academic recognition. Erdem, who is also pursuing her PhD at our university, had her poster presentation titled ‘A bliss point-based modelling approach for sugar and salt reductions in bakery product formulations’ selected as one of three posters highlighted under the ‘Emerging Talent Spotlight’ section at EuroSense (European Conference on Sensory and Consumer Research) 2026.
The research, which focuses on modelling the effects of reducing sugar and salt in bakery products on consumer preference using the “bliss point” approach, was selected from among the highest-scoring papers at the conference. The Emerging Talent Spotlight aims to highlight the notable scientific contributions of early-career researchers.
The conference brings together innovative research in sensory and consumer science
The 12th EuroSense Conference, one of the leading international scientific platforms bringing together researchers from academia and industry in the field of sensory and consumer science, will take place from 8 to 11 September 2026. The theme of this year’s conference, to be held in Oslo, Norway, has been set as “A Sense of Impact”. Whilst bringing together the latest and most innovative research in sensory and consumer science, the conference also provides special visibility for the work of early-career researchers.
