QS World University Rankings by Subject evaluated world universities in 54 areas under 5 broad subjects in 2023. While the number of universities evaluated increases each year, 1,369 universities in 2020, 1,453 in 2021, 1,543 in 2022, and 1594 universities from 161 locations were analyzed this year.

Hacettepe University ranked in only 1 main topic (Life Sciences and Medicine) in 2020 and 2021, 3 main topics in 2022 (Engineering and Technology, Life Sciences and Medicine and Natural Sciences), and this year a total of 5 main topics. Despite the increase in the number of universities ranked, it is seen that the balancing made in the methodology and the high score of Hacettepe University in the international research network indicator reflected positively on the results.

Hacettepe University continued its success in the field of Life Sciences & Medicine, in which it is the strongest in terms of basic topics, with a total score of 63.3 in 2023, while maintaining its success in the 278th place in the general ranking (among 518 universities), it also maintained its position in the 1st place in Turkey.
Our university showed great success this year in Natural Sciences, one of the main topics in which it was included in the 401-500 band for the first time last year, and rose to the 312th place in the world ranking with a total score of 65.1. It also ranked 3rd in the country ranking.
While Hacettepe University increased from 451-500 to 401-450 in Engineering & Technology this year, it entered the ranking from 451-500 band in Social Sciences & Management and Arts & Humanities for the first time.
When evaluated over subjects, Hacettepe University managed to rank in 13 subjects in 2023, as it did in 2022. In the 2023 rankings it showed great success in Mineral and Mining Engineering, which it entered for the first time this year, and was ranked 51-70 among world universities, and ranked 1st with ITU in the country ranking. It rose from the 251-300 band to the 201-250 band in the fields of Medicine, Pharmacy and Pharmacology, one of the sub-headings under the Life Sciences and Medicine heading, and ranked first in the country rankings. In the field of Biological Sciences, although it regressed to the 401-450 band, it shared the 1st place with Istanbul University in the country ranking. Our university maintained its place in the 201-250 band in Linguistics, which it was included in the ranking for the first time last year, and shared the 1st place with Boğaziçi University among the universities in Turkey. It kept its place in 2022 by taking place in the 201-250 band in the training title.
When evaluated in terms of basic indicators, in the subjects that Hacettepe University is included in the ranking, the subject with the highest academic reputation score is Chemical Engineering (score: 60.6), the subject with the highest employer reputation score is Linguistics (score: 78.5), the subject with the highest citation score per publication. Nursing (score: 83.4), the subject with the highest H-Index score was Pharmacy and Pharmacology (score: 80.2), and the subject with the highest international research network score was Medicine (score: 61.4).
