The Society for Vector Ecology (SOVE) is a non-profit organization founded in California to solve many complex problems in understanding the biology of arthropods of medical and veterinary importance. Vector Ecology Research Group (HU-VERG) within Hacettepe University presented their studies at the 22nd European-SOVE conference held in Sofia, Bulgaria in 11–14 October 2022. One of the team members, Dr. Gizem Oguz, who is working as a researcher on the ecology of vector sand flies, was awarded as a "Promising Woman Scientist" with her PhD study “Gene Expression Changes of Three Phlebotomus tobbi Adler, Theodor & Lourie, 1930 (Diptera: Psychodidae) Transcripts Under Different Environmental Conditions” she presented in the conference (Supervisor: Prof. Dr. Bülent Alten).
