Following the 2026 YKS (Higher Education Institutions Examination) results, 5,274 students who enrolled in our university came together for Turkey's most attended "UNI101: Introduction to University Life" course. Held with the participation of thousands of students across the Beytepe and Sıhhiye campuses, the 2026–2027 academic year UNI101 program took place between September 14 and 18. As a mandatory 1-credit course required for every student newly enrolled in any faculty or vocational school at Hacettepe University, the UNI101 program included interactive talks, department introductions, campus tours, the UNI101 ceremony, and a closing concert.
Designed to facilitate the orientation process of students newly joining the Hacettepe family into university life, the UNI101 ceremony took place on September 18 at the Beytepe Campus Open-Air Amphitheater. Prior to the ceremony, stands set up by 110 student societies attracted strong interest from the newly enrolled students.
The UNI101 Ceremony began with the "Orchestra UNI 101" concert performed by faculty members of the Ankara State Conservatory. Delivering a speech at the ceremony, our Rector Prof. Dr. Mehmet Cahit Güran stated: "I wholeheartedly congratulate you on choosing a highly prestigious institution like Hacettepe University and earning the right to study here. Welcome. As of today and this week, the university you have joined is not merely an educational institution. When you graduate from here, you will not just receive a diploma. You will acquire an identity that commands respect and appreciation."
Underlining the paramount importance of the orientation program conducted by Hacettepe University, Prof. Dr. Güran expressed: "Consider a university that initiates the academic period for over five thousand new members with an extraordinary one-week organization one that serves both as a warm welcome and as a platform providing all kinds of information and adaptation processes to ensure they spend their upcoming academic life in the most productive way possible. I assert that there is no other university in Turkey where you can witness such a scene."

Highlighting that Hacettepe University is globally acclaimed, our Rector Güran reminded the audience that our university ranks among the top 800 across all 15 major international higher education tracking organizations. Prof. Dr. Güran continued his speech as follows:
"Ranking among the top 800 universities globally—and doing so not just in a single ranking, but across nearly 15 different rankings—is a major achievement. In about six of these, it ranks among the top 500. In certain disciplines, it ranks in the top 100, top 200, or top 300. Independent international ranking organizations affirm this. Therefore, this success is the product of a massive organization, immense labor, determination, and a steady effort spanning a historical 60 years."
Recalling Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk's words, "We need nothing, we only need one thing: to be hardworking!", Prof. Dr. Güran advised the new students: "Know that university life is not composed solely of classes. Make time for art, culture, and sports. Never forget that all of these are invaluable for your personal development."
Following his speech, our Rector Prof. Dr. Mehmet Cahit Güran presented awards to our top-ranking graduates of this year.
