WADA Registration to Doping Control Center in 2020

SINCE 1989…

Turkish Doping Control Center (TDKM) was established within the body of Hacettepe University in accordance with the protocol signed between Hacettepe University and the General Directorate of Youth and Sports in 1989. The Center carries out the following activities, which it maintains impartially in accordance with WADA rules and transmits the results of the analysis to the competent authorities in accordance with the principle of confidentiality:

Doping analysis: Analysis of in-competition and out-of-competition urine samples from national and international federations and sports organizations.

Analysis of addictive substances: Analysis of reported patients followed in the Psychiatry departments of hospitals.

Projects, Research and Development: Detection of doping substances in various food products such as nutrition products, energy drinks, and drugs, and development of analysis methods.

FIRST ACCREDITATION IN 2001

TDKM successfully passed the accreditation tests and audits of the International Olympic Committee IOC in 2001 for the first time. However, all activities related to doping control in the world have been transferred to WADA, which was established from within the IOC at the First World Doping Conference since 2004.

Due to WADA's requirement for ISO 17025 accreditation for accreditation, the accreditation of the Turkish Doping Control Center, which received ISO 17025 accreditation from the British accreditation body UKAS, was officially approved by WADA. In the following years, audits were carried out every year for WADA and ISO 17025 re-accreditations, and as a result of the audits, the accreditation was renewed and continued.

ATHLETE BIOLOGICAL PASSPORT

Since May 2015, the Turkish Doping Control Center has the international doping laboratories accreditation certificate given by WADA and the TS EN ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation certificate given by TÜRKAK regarding the Test and Calibration Laboratories Competence.

The Center has also received authorization from WADA to perform “Athlete Biological Passport” analysis from blood since June 2017.
