Rector of our University, Prof. Dr. Mehmet Cahit Güran, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Serhat Ünal, one of the Sustainable Development Working Group Members, Prof. Dr. Utku Perktaş and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pınar Gözen Ercan, Social Contribution Coordinator Prof. Dr. Mine Durusu Tanrıöver attended as a speaker to the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda Information and Dissemination Meeting held in Beytepe on Monday, April 3, and Sıhhiye on Tuesday, April 4.
This meeting, which was held with the aim of making the activities carried out in line with the Sustainable Development Goals within the framework of Hacettepe University's Sustainable Development Commitment and Social Contribution Policy, more visible and improve started with Prof. Dr. Mehmet Cahit Güran's speech. In his speech, underlining the development and visibility of social contribution, which is one of the three basic missions of universities along with education and research, Prof. Dr. Güran pointed out that the social contribution dimension is considered important in the activities carried out as Hacettepe University and stated that they are working to develop a model specific to our university in the field of social contribution.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pınar Gözen Ercan gave detailed information about the Sustainable Development Agenda and touched on the historical journey from the United Nations Millennium Development Goals to the Sustainable Development Goals. Dr. Ercan talked about the responsibilities at all levels, from each individual to the international community, and the contribution our university has to offer.
Prof. Dr. Utku Perktaş, on the other hand, gave information about each Sustainable Development Goal and explained with examples that it is possible to associate research activities with one or more Sustainable Development Goals. Speaking at the meeting, Prof. Dr. Mine Durusu Tanrıöver emphasized that the social contribution activities of our university are planned by prioritizing in line with the objectives of "improving the scope and quality of social service" in our Social Contribution Policy and 2023-2027 Strategic Plan, and drew attention to the importance of associating the Sustainable Development Goals with the activities.
