Hacettepe University has published the “Guide to the Use of Generative Artificial Intelligence in Research and Development”, which is based on critical evaluation and human oversight in the use of generative artificial intelligence tools.
Hacettepe University has taken a significant step towards realising its vision of becoming an “Artificial Intelligence Integrated Research University” in this digital age, where the processes of knowledge production, sharing and management are undergoing transformation. Establishing the principle that the use of generative artificial intelligence tools must be carried out in conjunction with critical evaluation by the user and human oversight, our university has published a guide entitled “Hacettepe University Guide to the Use of Generative Artificial Intelligence in Research and Development”.
Prepared by the Research Coordination Office at Hacettepe University and made available to our university’s researchers, the guide sets out the fundamental principles for the ethical, transparent and responsible use of generative AI tools in research processes, thereby providing researchers with a guiding framework.
The principles regarding the use of generative artificial intelligence are addressed under the headings of Transparency and Disclosure, Intellectual Property and Confidentiality, and Academic Responsibility and Publication Ethics. Furthermore, the requirement for researchers to make a declaration regarding the use of generative artificial intelligence, along with the relevant implementation criteria, are explained in detail.
