Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hande Konşuk Ünlü, currently serving at Hacettepe University Vocational School of Health Services, has achieved a significant breakthrough through her interdisciplinary work in the field of health technologies. The device, named “Modified Augmented Reality Glasses for Healthcare (SAMAGG)”, was granted patent protection by the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office on April 21, 2025.
In addition to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hande Konşuk Ünlü, the invention was jointly developed by Prof. Dr. Nilgün Ulutaşdemir, Assist. Prof. Dr. Esra Ertemür, Specialist Midwife Şerife Alp, and Environmental Engineer (MSc) Batuhan Aşcı. This innovative system consists of both hardware and software components that enable on-site, hands-free, and safe examination of medical waste.
Unlike conventional methods, SAMAGG minimizes occupational health and safety risks while providing a measurable, reproducible, and objective waste management system.
