VERG laboratory, which carries out its activities in our university's Faculty of Science, Department of Biology, Ecology Division has been submitted to the project to the Environmental Health call (HORIZON-HLTH-2021-ENVHLTH-02) of the European Union HORIZON 2021 (Horizon Europe Framework Programme). The project entitled "Climate monitoring and decision support framework for sand fly-borne diseases detection and mitigation with cost-benefit and climate-policy measures-CLIMOS” (Project No: 101057690) was accepted with full support by EU. On behalf of our university, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Özge Erisöz Kasap and Prof. Dr. Salih Bulent Alten will manage the project. The project, which will last for 36 months, aims to produce models for the prediction of sand fly distribution and sand fly-borne diseases, which are important for humans and animals, to monitor the effects of climate changes on these models, and to produce easy/quick-use diagnostic kits.
