An exciting research project to study the dynamics of evolutionary forces behind complex human diseases using ancient DNA was supported by ARDEB 3501 program of the Scientific and Technological Council of Turkey. The principal investigator of the project, Dr. Gülşah Merve Kılınç, lecturer at the Department of Bioinformatics at the Graduate School of Health Sciences, will run the project for the next three years in collaboration with METU as well as Human-G Laboratory at the Department of Anthropology at Hacettepe University, led by Prof. Yilmaz Selim Erdal and Dr. Füsun Özer. Dr. Ezgi Altınışık and Dr. İdil Yet will be involved in the project as researchers. This will be a pilot project to study the complex trait evolution in ancient Anatolian human genomes spanning a time period of 10,000 years in prehistory.
