Gold medal from the European Society of Radiology to Prof. Dr. Deniz Akata

Hacettepe University Department of Radiology Faculty Member Prof. Dr. Deniz Akata was awarded the ESR Gold Medal by the European Society of Radiology for his contributions to the field of radiology and European radiology. Prof. is the first Turkish scientist to be awarded this award. Dr. Deniz Akata will be presented with his medal at a special ceremony at the European Congress of Radiology (ECR 2024) to be held in Vienna on February 28, 2024.

Prof. Dr. Akata has been actively working in the European Society of Radiology, the world's largest radiology society with more than 137 thousand members, for many years. Apart from his membership in the board of directors of the association and the organizing and scientific committees of the European Congress of Radiology; He served as the Chairman of the European National Radiology Societies Committee, as the Chairman of the European Training Assessment Program for institutions providing radiology specialization training in Europe, as a member of the Quality, Audit and Radiation Safety in Radiology boards, as a member of the European Proficiency Examination Commission and as an instructor in European School of Radiology courses. He is currently Co-Chair of the EuroSafe Imaging Educational Activities Working Group and a Member of the Editorial Board of Insights into Imaging, the scientific journal of the European Society of Radiology. Akata has three multinational European Union and one European Standards projects that it actively pursues.
