The Association of Research Institutes and Centers of Archeology of the Turkic World (ARICA), established in 2023 within the Turkic Academy, is coming together in its second working meeting. The opening of the program, which will be held in two different cities, Ankara and Gaziantep, covering October 19-24, was hosted by Hacettepe University. At the opening of the program, which started at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, October 20 at Tuğrul İnal Hall of Beytepe Campus of our university; Prof. Dr. Derya Örs, President of the Atatürk Supreme Council for Culture, Language and History, Prof. Dr. Şahin Mustafayev, President of the Turkic Academy, Prof. Dr. Yüksel Özgen, President of the Turkish Historical Society, Prof. Dr. Sibel Aksu Yıldırım, Vice Rector of Hacettepe University, Prof. Dr. Emine Erdoğan Özünlü, Dean of the Faculty of Literature, and Prof. Dr. Yılmaz Selim Erdal, Head of the Department of Anthropology, made opening speeches.
Ambassador Prof. Dr. Derya Örs: “New cooperation opportunities will come to the agenda”
Stating that with the proclamation of the Republic, archaeology has become an important tool in the construction of national unity and cultural heritage awareness, Ambassador Prof. Dr. Derya Örs, President of the Atatürk Supreme Council for Culture, Language and History, said: “I believe that in this workshop, an experience will be transferred by sharing the archaeological research and practices of our countries, and new cooperation opportunities will come to the agenda regarding many archaeological researches in the vast Turkic geography.”
Prof. Dr. Şahin Mustafayev: “It is very meaningful to get to know the laboratory of Hacettepe University”
President of the Turkic Academy Prof. Dr. Şahin Mustafayev said: "There is a great need for the effective use of existing laboratories and the establishment of new laboratories in the countries of the Turkic world. Today, coming together to get to know the laboratories of Hacettepe University is extremely meaningful in this respect."
After his speech, Prof. Dr. Şahin Mustafayev presented a selection of books published by the Turkic Academy to the library of Hacettepe University.
Prof. Dr. Yüksel Özgen: “It will pave the way for many successes and collaborations”
One of the opening speakers of the workshop, President of the Turkish Historical Society Prof. Dr. Yüksel Özgen stated that this workshop will pave the way for collaborations, “The communication, interaction and the opportunities that will come to the agenda will pave the way for many successes and collaborations in the field of Turkish archaeology and Turkish historiography in the Turkish century.”
Prof. Dr. Sibel Aksu Yıldırım: “We are honored to host”
Prof. Dr. Sibel Aksu Yıldırım, Vice Rector of Hacettepe University, started her opening speech by conveying the greetings of Prof. Dr. Mehmet Cahit Güran, Rector of Hacettepe University, to the audience and expressed that they were honored to host the workshop. Prof. Dr. Sibel Aksu Yıldırım continued her words as follows
"One of our biggest goals in recent years, especially during the tenure of our Rector, has been to strengthen the research ecosystem in the field of social sciences. In this regard, we have carried out various activities both with our internal mechanisms and external stakeholders. We are honored to be a research stakeholder in such an alliance."
