Our university's Faculty of Medicine Department of Cardiovascular Surgery Research Assistant Nazlı Melis Coşkun and Department of Thoracic Surgery Research Assistant Atilay Koltuk, representing Europe in the competition, beat the Yale University team representing America to take first place.
Organized by the Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS), one of the most respected scientific organizations in the field of cardiac and thoracic surgery worldwide, this prestigious meeting serves as an international scientific platform for evaluating clinical excellence, innovative approaches, evidence-based practices, and advanced surgical skills.
This first place finish is a concrete demonstration of both individual academic competence and the scientific and educational strength of Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine in the international arena.
During the competition, Prof. Dr. Mustafa Yılmaz, Head of the Department of Cardiovascular Surgery, and Associate Professor Dr. Şafak Alpat, provided academic and moral support to their assistants as faculty members.
