Our university has achieved significant improvements in the THE Sustainability Impact Ratings 2026 results.

Hacettepe University ranked among the world’s top 300 universities in all Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in which it was evaluated in the THE Sustainability Impact Ratings 2026. The University rose to 11th place worldwide in SDG 5 – Gender Equality and achieved a remarkable improvement in SDG 16 – Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions.

The results of the THE Sustainability Impact Ratings 2026, published by Times Higher Education (THE), have been announced. Previously known as the THE Impact Rankings, the assessment evaluates universities based on their contributions to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through research, teaching, resource stewardship, and societal impact.

This year’s edition included 1,646 universities from 116 countries and territories. Hacettepe University maintained its position in the 201–300 band overall, the same as in 2025. The University recorded no decline in ranking band in any SDG and achieved notable improvements across several areas.

Ranked 11th Worldwide in Gender Equality

The most notable achievement in the 2026 results was recorded in SDG 5 – Gender Equality. Hacettepe University rose from 93rd place in 2025 to 11th place worldwide. Its score in this area also increased from 68.3 to 78.1.

This result places Hacettepe University among the leading institutions worldwide in the field of gender equality and reflects the impact of its ongoing efforts in support of sustainable development.

Major Progress in Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions

Hacettepe University also achieved significant progress in SDG 16 – Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions. Having been placed in the 601–800 band in 2025, the University advanced to the 101–200 band in 2026. Its score in this area increased from 49.5 to 70.3.

This represents one of the strongest improvements achieved by the University this year in terms of both score and ranking position.

Strong Performance in Education and Reduced Inequalities

In SDG 4 – Quality Education, Hacettepe University improved from 60th to 54th place worldwide, while increasing its score from 77.7 to 80.1.

In SDG 10 – Reduced Inequalities, the University moved from the 301–400 band to the 201–300 band, with its score rising from 59.8 to 63.4.

The University also recorded a notable improvement in SDG 17 – Partnerships for the Goals, advancing from the 401–600 band to the 201–300 band.

Top 300 Performance Across All SDGs

According to the THE Sustainability Impact Ratings 2026, Hacettepe University ranked:

Within the top 100 worldwide in SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 5 (Gender Equality),
Within the top 200 worldwide in SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being), SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure), and SDG 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions),
Within the top 300 worldwide in SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities) and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
Hacettepe University maintained its position within the world’s top 300 across all SDGs in which it was evaluated, while recording no decline in ranking band in any area.

International Recognition for Societal Impact

The THE Sustainability Impact Ratings is one of the leading global assessment systems that evaluates universities not only on academic performance but also on their contributions to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals through research, teaching, resource management, and societal engagement.

The 2026 results once again demonstrate the international impact of Hacettepe University’s education, research, and societal contribution activities carried out in line with the Sustainable Development Goals.
