Times Higher Education (THE) has been publishing Asia University Rankings since 2013, using indicators from world university rankings (teaching quality, research, publications and citations, industry income, and international visibility). While 551 universities from 30 countries were evaluated in 2021, 616 universities from 31 countries were included this year.
For the past three years, China has hosted first- and second-ranked universities in THE Asia University Rankings. In the 2022 results, the country with the highest number of universities was Japan. Saudi Arabia, on the other hand, increased the number of universities in the top 100 from four to six.
The number of universities in Turkey's rankings this year rose from 43 to 54. In addition, 12 universities were listed with the status of "reporter", that is, universities that provide data but have not yet met the eligibility criteria for ranking. Our university, which has been included in the ranking since 2016, has been in decline since 2020. This situation did not change in 2022 and Hacettepe University ranked 188th. While evaluating this result, it is also important to take into account the increase in the number of universities from around the world and from our country.
