The Beekeeping Education and Expertise for Professional Excellence (BEEXPERT) project, co-led by Research Assistant Dr. Aygün Schiesser from our university's Biology Department, contributes to Hacettepe's internationalization vision. The project, which was awarded funding under the European Union's Erasmus+ ERASMUS-EDU-2025-PI-ALL-INNO-EDU-ENTERP call, aims to develop innovative materials and digital modules for beekeeping education. Expected to strengthen international cooperation and professional standards, the project began with an opening meeting in Naples last December.
Turkey is represented in the consortium, which includes institutions from Italy, Romania, Portugal, Slovenia, Spain, and Turkey, by Hacettepe University and the Turkish Beekeepers Association (TAB). This collaboration is expected to strengthen international standards in beekeeping education and make Turkey's academic and sectoral expertise in this field more visible at the European level.
As part of the project, Dr. Schiesser will contribute to the development of innovative teaching materials for beekeeping education, together with Prof. Dr. Aslı Özkırım and Dr. Edibe Özman Baysal. The project aims to strengthen field applications and plans to enrich educational content with up-to-date scientific data. Increasing the exchange of knowledge and experience between young researchers, beekeepers, and educators through mobility programs is also among the project's objectives.
