THE World University Rankings 2027 announced

The Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2027 have been announced. Hacettepe University was ranked in the 801–1000 band worldwide.

This year, 2,297 universities from 118 countries and territories were included in the rankings. The number of ranked universities from Türkiye increased from 109 last year to 124 this year. Hacettepe University, which shared 9th place nationally last year, shared 7th place in Türkiye this year, remaining among the country’s top 10 universities.

Hacettepe Ranks 489th in the World for Teaching

The THE World University Rankings evaluate universities across five main pillars: Teaching, Research Environment, Research Quality, Industry and International Outlook.

Hacettepe University showed an improvement in its Teaching performance. Its score increased from 34.8 last year to 36.3 this year, while its global position in this pillar rose from 533rd to 489th.

Hacettepe also improved its score in Research Environment, from 28.6 last year to 29.6 this year.

Research Influence Records the Highest Indicator Score 

Among Hacettepe University’s individual indicators, Research Influence received the highest score at 83.7.

The University also scored 72.9 in Research Income, 69.2 in Patents, 68.8 in Doctorate-to-Staff Ratio, 66.9 in Staff-to-Student Ratio and 65.0 in Research Excellence.

THE World University Rankings

The THE World University Rankings assess research-intensive universities across their main areas of activity. University performance is measured across five pillars using 17 weighted performance indicators.

The five pillars are weighted as follows: Research Quality 30 per cent, Teaching 29.5 per cent, Research Environment 29 per cent, International Outlook 7.5 per cent and Industry 4 per cent.

Teaching covers Teaching Reputation, Staff-to-Student Ratio, Doctorate-to-Bachelor’s Ratio, Doctorates-Awarded-to-Academic-Staff Ratio and Institutional Income. Research Environment includes Research Reputation, Research Income and Research Productivity.

Research Quality covers Citation Impact, Research Strength, Research Excellence and Research Influence. International Outlook considers international students, international staff and international collaboration, while Industry is based on Industry Income and Patents.
