At the 48th Sedat Simavi Award Ceremony organized by the Turkish Journalists Association (TGC), the Science Award was granted to our Mathematics Department faculty member, Prof. Dr. Sinem Onaran. Prof. Dr. Onaran was recognized for her work titled "Legendre Hopf Links."
While accepting her award, Prof. Dr. Onaran expressed:
"It is a great honor for me, both as a mathematician and a scientist, to receive this award. Science progresses with the passion for discovery and understanding. This award motivates me and my fellow researchers to achieve even more. I would like to thank my family and friends for their support. May the light of science never dim."
Distinguished for her scientific achievements, Prof. Dr. Onaran previously received the Outstanding Young Scientist Award (TÜBA-GEBİP) from the Turkish Academy of Sciences in 2016. In 2017, she was honored with the Masatoshi Gündüz İKEDA Research Award by the Turkish Mathematical Society. In 2020, she earned the Young Scientist Award (BAGEP) from the Science Academy Turkey and the ODTÜ M. Parlar Foundation Research Encouragement Award.
