Hacettepe University Center for Genomics and Rare Diseases (HUGEN)) organized the Drug Development Processes in Rare Diseases Meeting this year as part of Rare Disease Day.
The meeting organized by HUGEN in collaboration with the HUTBAT Rare Diseases Student Study Group took place on February 24, 2026. Held in the M Hall of the Sıhhiye Campus Cultural Center, the event brought together medical students and experts in the field, creating an interactive discussion environment.
The meeting began with opening speeches by HUGEN Director Prof. Dr. Fatih Özaltın and our University Rector Prof. Dr. Mehmet Cahit Güran, followed by a presentation titled “Rare Diseases from a Student's Perspective: An Overview and Survey Studies” Following the presentation, a session titled “The Past and Present of a Rare Disease Case” which also included the story of a rare disease patient, was held.
The meeting concluded with a panel discussion titled "Treatment in Rare Diseases: Medications You Don't Use Are Useless," moderated by the Deputy Director of HUGEN and conducted in a discussion environment.
