A meeting to evaluate the success of international projects was held

A review meeting was held to discuss the achievements of two major international research projects funded by the European Union and carried out by researchers from our university. The meeting, chaired by our Rector, Prof. Dr. Mehmet Cahit Güran, was attended by Vice-Rector Prof. Dr. Şahap Armağan Tarım, as well as Prof. Dr. Seza Özen and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zehra Taşkın, who are the principal investigators of high-budget, high-impact projects being carried out by our university in various fields.

The meeting, organised to evaluate the achievements at an institutional level and to identify the support required by the project leaders, took place at the Rectorate of Hacettepe University. The scientific scope of both projects, international collaborations and their contributions to the university’s research capacity formed the main topics of discussion.

During the meeting, it was emphasised that both projects had enhanced Hacettepe University’s visibility within international research networks and strengthened its capacity for scientific leadership across various disciplines. It was noted that such projects hold strategic importance in terms of developing the university’s research infrastructure, supporting young researchers, and deepening international collaborations.

Our University’s Rector, Prof. Dr. Mehmet Cahit Güran, and Vice-Rector, Prof. Dr. Şahap Armağan Tarım, congratulated the project managers on their achievements and stated that the necessary institutional support would continue to be provided to ensure the sustainability of the work.

Success across borders: the BioPATH-SAID and OPENRAM projects

Led by Prof. Dr Seza Özen, the BioPATH-SAID project stands out as a major research initiative supported under the European Union’s EP PerMed JTC 2025 call, focusing on personalised medicine strategies. The project, coordinated by Turkey, involves collaboration with research teams from Belgium, Germany and Denmark. Based on a multi-omic data analysis approach, the project aims to elucidate the molecular mechanisms of systemic autoinflammatory diseases and drive scientific transformation in diagnostic and treatment processes.

The OPENRAM project, led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zehra Taşkın, is funded by the European Commission under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Staff Exchanges call within the Horizon Europe Programme. With a budget of 1.7 million euros, the project offers an international framework for making research evaluation systems more equitable, inclusive and aligned with the principles of open science. The Multiversatory platform to be developed as part of the project aims to foster the development of next-generation evaluation approaches that take into account the societal impact of research, contributions to open science, and regional differences.
