Sudanese Higher Education Delegation visits Hacettepe University

Hacettepe University hosted a higher education delegation led by Prof. Dr. Ahmed Madawi Musa, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research of Sudan. The delegation that visited our university, accompanied by Mustafa Efe, Director of the International Relations Department at the Council of Higher Education, included the rectors of the Universities of Khartoum, Science and Technology, Al-Jazira, Nile Valley, and Nyala in Sudan, as well as representatives from the Sudanese Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.

In her opening remarks, Hacettepe University Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Necla Özer outlined the University’s research-oriented structure and highlighted the importance of inter-university cooperation in advancing higher education. During the programme, Minister Prof. Dr. Ahmed Madawi Musa emphasized the importance of developing academic cooperation between Hacettepe University and Sudanese universities, stating that the partnerships to be established should be long-term and sustainable. He also noted that stronger relations between the universities would provide an important opportunity not only for the institutions involved but also for reinforcing academic ties between the two countries.

Later in the meeting, the university rectors on the Sudanese delegation introduced their institutions and shared their views on potential areas of cooperation with Hacettepe University. The discussions focused particularly on joint academic programmes, student and academic staff mobility, and opportunities for collaborative scientific research.

In a presentation delivered by the International Relations and Protocols Office, participants were provided with an overview of Hacettepe University’s academic structure, education and research infrastructure, and international cooperation network. The parties also exchanged views on developing cooperation in areas including digital transformation, academic studies in the field of health, joint research projects and knowledge sharing. Both sides expressed their mutual commitment to establishing sustainable partnerships, particularly in the field of higher education.

The visit is expected to contribute to the development of long-term academic cooperation between higher education institutions in Türkiye and Sudan.
