Collaborations between Hacettepe University and ASELSAN that will contribute to the development of R&D and technology continue. Within this scope, contracts for three projects to be carried out within the ASELABS Artificial Intelligence Technologies Laboratory were signed today. The signing ceremony, held at 2:00 p.m. in the Conference Hall of the Population Studies Institute at our university's Beytepe Campus, Hacettepe University Rector Prof. Dr. Mehmet Cahit Güran, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Şahap Armağan Tarım, our university administrators, ASELSAN Deputy General Managers, project partners, and many academics.
During the ceremony, ASELSAN Deputy General Manager and UGES Sector President Alaattin Dökmen delivered the opening speech, stating, “We created these projects with the aim of using the power of our academy to make our systems even smarter and more effective in the field of artificial intelligence.” Noting that although the agreement signed in 2025 only envisaged the establishment of one laboratory, two separate laboratories were set up within the framework of the collaborations carried out with Hacettepe University, Dökmen said, “Hopefully, we will all see concrete results with these projects.”
Prof. Dr. Mehmet Cahit Güran: “We are part of a team”
Our university's Rector, Prof. Dr. Mehmet Cahit Güran, also gave a speech, noting that the institutional cooperation with ASELSAN is growing stronger. Güran said, “It is a great pleasure for me to come together at an event that shows how the cooperation between our university and ASELSAN is growing, strengthening, and accelerating.” Referring to the capacity produced by ASELSAN and the defense industry and the success achieved in recent years, Prof. Dr. Güran expressed the cooperation between Hacettepe and ASELSAN with the words, "If we succeed, we will succeed together; if we fail, we will fail together. In fact, we are now part of the same team." Expressing his gratitude to the project partners and ASELSAN, Prof. Dr. Güran concluded his remarks by stating that the university administration stands by and supports these processes.
Following the opening speeches, the contract was signed by ASELSAN Deputy General Manager and UGES Sector President Alaattin Dökmen and Hacettepe Teknokent General Manager İsmail Karahan. The program concluded with a group photo and laboratory visits.
