The article, titled “Challenging the Seasonal Disadvantage Assumption: Quality of Working Life in Resort-Based and Urban Tourism Employment in Türkiye,” was prepared as part of a student research project supported by the TÜBİTAK 2209-A University Students Research Projects Support Programme. The article has been accepted for publication in Current Issues in Tourism (SSCI, Q2), one of the international journals in the field of tourism.
The study was conducted by Prof. Dr. Volkan Işık, faculty member at Hacettepe University’s Vocational School of Social Sciences and project advisor, and Gülşen Yıldız, a student in the Tourism and Hotel Management Programme and the project researcher.
The fieldwork compared data collected from a total of 701 tourism employees, including 391 participants from Antalya and 310 from Ankara. The data were evaluated across 14 dimensions of quality of working life.
The study examined wages, working hours, occupational health and safety, job security, social security, leave entitlements, trade union rights, social dialogue, equal treatment, career and skills development, work–life balance, work motivation, physical working conditions, and support mechanisms.
