Meeting on women’s and girls’ access to justice at Hacettepe

The 70th session (CSW70) of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW), which has been held annually in New York under the auspices of the United Nations (UN) since 1946, will take place in March 2026.  As part of CSW70, the first meeting in Turkey of the “Youth Recommendations Meetings” series, conducted globally by UN Women, was hosted by the Department of Social Work at Hacettepe University.

The event was attended by Prof. Dr. Yasemin Özkan, Head of the Department of Social Work at Hacettepe University; Dr. Ercem Erkul, Associate Professor and Deputy Head of the Department of Social Work at Hacettepe University; and Irmak İnan Çınar, UN Women Turkey Program Analyst. The meeting was facilitated by Zeynep Dilruba Taşdemir, the National Gender Equality Advocate selected globally by UN Women.

During the event, fourth-year undergraduate students from the Department of Social Work shared their experiences, observations, and recommendations on the main theme of the CSW70 meeting to be held in New York between March 9-20, 2026, namely “Women's and Girls' Access to Justice.” The outputs created with the contributions of the young people are intended to be transferred to policy and advocacy mechanisms for evaluation at the international level during and after the CSW70 process.
