Hacettepe University held its “2025-2026 Academic Year Opening Ceremony” on November 12. As part of the “2025-2026 Academic Year Opening Ceremony” at our university, a visit to Anıtkabir was first held on Wednesday, November 12.
The ceremony, which took place at the Sıhhiye Campus Cultural Center, was attended by our Rector Prof. Dr. Mehmet Cahit Güran, the Hacettepe University administration, academic and administrative staff, and a large number of students.
Our university's Rector, Prof. Dr. Mehmet Cahit Güran, delivered the opening speech for the new academic year. Regarding the meaning and importance of the ceremony, Prof. Güran said: "As Hacettepe University, one of the strongest centers of scientific production, research, innovation, and human-centered development, we are excited to come together again as we begin a new academic year. Today, we are not only starting a new academic period, but also opening a new chapter in the vision of change, transformation, and shaping the future that we launched five years ago. The past year has been one of both challenges and achievements for our university. We have made significant progress in academic productivity, research performance, and community service. Many of our academic staff, graduates, and students have achieved great success in the national and international arenas. We have strengthened our position in national and international rankings. Together with our researchers, scientists, students, and graduates, we have elevated the reputation of the Hacettepe brand to new heights. I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to all our academic and administrative staff, graduates, and students who contributed to these achievements."
Our Rector also provided information about the work carried out within our University over the past year and the new projects to be implemented. In addition to our university's “Sports-Friendly Campus” initiatives, there is a project to install 200 water purification dispensers in our educational buildings to ensure that our university students and staff have access to clean and affordable drinking water. There is also the "Hacettepe University Safe Campus Network (Hayat) Project“ established throughout our university to counter heart attack risks, and the ”Monitor Cleanliness (Temiz) Project" created to monitor the cleanliness and responsiveness of areas such as classrooms, restrooms, and laboratories used by our students in educational buildings.
The program continued with the presentation of the 2024 Hacettepe Awards and Professorship Certificates.
The 2024 Science Award in the field of Medicine and Health Sciences was awarded to Prof. Dr. Lale Tokgözoğlu, Faculty Member of the Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Cardiology, Faculty of Medicine.
The 2024 Arts Award was presented to Prof. Burak Tüzün, Faculty Member at the Ankara State Conservatory, and Artist Faculty Member Kamer Güngör.
The 2024 Science Incentive Award in the field of Science and Engineering was given to Associate Professor Dr. Özge Yüksel Orhan, a faculty member of the Department of Chemical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Division of Process and Reactor Design.
Following the Hacettepe Awards, 54 faculty members who were appointed to the professorship were presented with their professorship certificates. The awards and professorship certificates were presented by our Rector, Prof. Dr. Mehmet Cahit Güran.
