Significant Contribution to Primary Immunodeficiency Research from Hacettepe University Can Sucak Laboratory

The multi-center research, led by Associate Professor Dr. Baran Erman from the Children's Health Institute, was published in the journal Nature Communications. In this study, the majority of the work was conducted at the "Hacettepe University Can Sucak Research Laboratory. for Translational Immunology" The impaired kinase activity of IKKα, a regulatory molecule of the "NF-κB" pathway, an essential mechanism of the immune system, was shown to cause primary immunodeficiency for the first time in humans. The results of this study provide significant findings both for a better understanding of this mechanism and for the diagnosis and treatment of various immunodeficiencies affected by it.
