Hacettepe University Symphony Orchestra premiered the "1941-Ankara" symphony composed 82 years ago by Presidential Symphony Orchestra (CSO) Conductor Ernst Praetorius.

Hacettepe University Symphony Orchestra Conductor Burak Tüzün, Ankara State Conservatory Lecturer Kamer Güngör and Ankara Music and Fine Arts University Faculty Member Assoc. Önder Özkoç, German musicologist Dr. He found Ernst Praetorius's "1941-Ankara" symphony in a yellow envelope in the conservatory library 4 years ago. Between 1935 and 1946, Dr. was the principal conductor of the CSO and a lecturer at the Ankara State Conservatory. Long studies were carried out to prepare Praetorius' symphony for its first performance.

FOUR MOVEMENT SYMPHONY
In the concert held at CSO Ada Ankara Main Hall and conducted by Burak Tüzün, some artists from CSO and Ankara State Opera and Ballet accompanied Hacettepe University Symphony Orchestra. The concert, where Praetorius' four-movement "1941-Ankara" symphony was performed for the first time, received a standing ovation. Conductor Tüzün greeted the audience by holding up the work of Praetorius, which was digitally transferred and published in a book after 4 years of work.

Hacettepe University Rector Prof. Dr. Mehmet Cahit Güran came on stage at the end of the concert and congratulated conductor Tüzün and the orchestra. Making a short speech, Güran expressed his satisfaction in being at such a concert.
Güran stated that the story of the work is interesting and that some people's fates are written differently and said, "You are listening to a work, it is performed 82 years later." said.
Stating that Praetorius was excluded from the country he lived in because of his art and art style, Güran noted that he came to Turkey, which he saw as a safe haven, due to the racist attitude of Nazi Germany, and lived here for 11 years.

Güran said, "Praetorius composed this work by conveying everything he experienced, felt, thought and his emotions in the atmosphere of security in our country, in the hot conditions of the Second World War. I am not an artist, but in the work I listened to, there were tones that made me feel trust, peace, and on the other hand, chaos and violence. " he said. Mehmet Cahit Güran, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Turkish-German Cultural Affairs Board Association, who contributed to the creation of the work, and Project Manager Prof.Dr. Süleyman Yıldız, Ankara State Conservatory Lecturer Kamer Güngör, Hacettepe University Symphony Orchestra Conductor Burak Tüzün and Ankara Music and Fine Arts University Faculty Member Assoc. He thanked Önder Özkoç, Ankara Gothe Institute and the Culture Department of the Federal Republic of Germany Embassy in Ankara.

Chief Praetorius wrote in 1942, "While the whole world is agitated in such a general war, is it possible for a country to express its will for peace and culture through a more effective means than Fidelio and the 9th Symphony? Let's hope that when all people will be brothers." "May he not be far from us anymore." Sharing his words, Güran said, "I end my words by thinking about what is happening in Palestine and Gaza, which tramples human dignity these days." he said.
