The success of our university was honored by the President

The 2025-2026 Higher Education Academic Year Opening Ceremony was held at the Beştepe National Congress and Culture Center with the participation of our University Rector Prof. Dr. Mehmet Cahit Güran. The ceremony was attended by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, President of the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar, state officials, ministers, ambassadors, rectors, academics and students. During the ceremony, YÖK 2025 Outstanding Achievement Awards were presented by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

Hacettepe's internationalization vision in Uzbekistan
Speaking at the opening ceremony, YÖK President Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar stated that Turkish universities have become an important topic of Turkish foreign policy in Africa, the Islamic world and the Turkic world. Stating that the International University of Turkic States was established in Uzbekistan, similar to the Turkey-Azerbaijan University, which was established in Baku in 2024 and some of the programs of Hacettepe University are also implemented, Prof. Dr. Özvar said:

"The International University of Turkic States will provide education at international standards by implementing joint education programs with Turkey's leading higher education institutions. In the first phase, engineering, informatics, health and agriculture programs to be carried out by ITU, METU, Hacettepe and Ege Universities will start their activities."

The YÖK Outstanding Achievement Awards, which have been given since 2017, met with their owners this year. The awards were given in a total of 11 categories under three main headings: Individual, Institutional and Special Field. In addition to these categories, the “Service to Science and Students Award”, which is given to scientists who have made significant contributions to education and science with their work, was also given within the scope of the opening ceremony. 

Dr. Eyüp Sabır Erbiçer, Research Assistant at our university, and Prof. Dr. Türkan Doğan, who was his PhD thesis advisor, were awarded in the Social Sciences and Humanities category under the title of Individual Awards. The awards were presented by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to our faculty members who were entitled to receive an award for their thesis titled “The effectiveness of the mobile-based self-help application developed for combating cyberbullying in adolescents”.
