The Student Project Exhibition and Award Ceremony, traditionally organized by Hacettepe University Faculty of Engineering every year and held for the 20th time this year, brought the graduation projects of the senior students of the faculty together with academic and sectoral stakeholders.
This event, where students from our university's engineering departments have the opportunity to exhibit the graduation projects they have carried out throughout the year, is an important platform where students demonstrate their academic competence with projects that put their theoretical knowledge into practice.
Our university's Faculty of Engineering Dean Prof. Dr. Halil Vural, who made the opening speech of the award ceremony, emphasized the importance of project-based learning in engineering education and stated that the students' creative and solution-oriented approaches were appreciated. Dean Vural said, “I would like to thank the jury members who evaluated our students’ projects and the advisors who provided both material and moral support to our students’ projects. The most important thank you is to our students. These 42 projects constitute three projects selected by the departments from each program. We would also like to thank the institutions and organizations that provided sponsorship support to our students and our project exhibition.”
Our Rector Prof. Dr. Mehmet Cahit Güran, who attended the ceremony, made a speech and expressed his thoughts with the following words:
“The conjuncture is a very exciting period that offers extraordinary opportunities for the engineering field in terms of time, perhaps at the beginning. That is why I would love to be in the shoes of the young people who will be starting their careers right now. Being a part of this change, transformation, and having a role is a great opportunity. Today, we are talking about artificial intelligence and quantum technologies and imagining how we can implement them in Turkey. The development of artificial intelligence is leading technological transformations on both a global and national scale; it creates new opportunities and future paths.”
At the end of the event, awards were presented to the projects that were ranked as a result of the evaluation made by the jury.
Within the scope of Teknokent Awards, the first place faculty winner received a cash prize of 30 thousand TL, the second place faculty winner received 20 thousand TL and the third place faculty winner received 15 thousand TL, presented by our Rector Prof. Dr. Mehmet Cahit Güran.
The first place in the faculty was awarded to Doğa Derya Buçan, Efnan Nur Gül, and İsmail Metin İpek from the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering for their project titled “Development of an Electromyography (EMG)-Based Dynamic Arm Support System for Patients with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD)”, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Atila Yılmaz.
The second place in the faculty was awarded to Cansu Göktaş, Ege Komitoğlu, and Sude Bilgin from the Department of Chemical Engineering for their project titled “A Micro-Scale Sensor Approach for the Detection of Colorless Ammonia Gas: Color-Changing Liquid Marbles”, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Nihal Aydoğan.
The third place in the faculty was awarded to Bilge Abacı, Melek Öğüt, and Ozan Can Ayral from the Department of Chemical Engineering for their project titled “The Smart Way to the Target: Tumor Diagnosis and Treatment with Nanomotor-Integrated Theranostic Material”, under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Çiğdem Kip and Research Assistant Burcu Gökçal Kapucu.
