The Turkish Academy of Sciences (TÜBA) University Conferences, which aim to promote scientific exchange and raise awareness of thematic scientific topics and current issues at universities, continued with an event held at Hacettepe University. As part of the conference series, which has been running since 2021, Prof. Dr. Yeşim Moğulkoç, a lecturer at the Faculty of Engineering, Ankara University, delivered a presentation titled “New Generation Two-Dimensional Materials” at our university.

Prior to the event, which took place in the Mehmet Akif Ersoy Conference Hall at the Beytepe Campus, our university’s Rector, Prof. Dr. Mehmet Cahit Güran, received Prof. Dr. Yeşim Moğulkoç in his office. The conference, delivered by Prof. Dr. Moğulkoç—whose scientific achievements earned her the 2024 TÜBA-GEBİP Outstanding Young Scientist Award—was attended by our university’s administrators, academics and a large number of students.
Following the conference, Prof. Dr Moğulkoç was presented with a plaque by Prof. Dr Şahap Armağan Tarım, Vice-Rector of our university.
Dr Moğulkoç, who conducted his postdoctoral research in the ‘Theory of Condensed Matter’ group at Radboud University in the Netherlands, continues his academic work with a research group at Ankara University in the fields of quantum mechanics-based computational materials science, nanotechnology and spintronics. Prof. Dr. Moğulkoç, who leads international consortia as the principal investigator of the ERA-NET (FLAG-ERA) ‘2D Magnetic Memories’ project, has numerous high-impact publications and one national patent on the design and modelling of two-dimensional materials.
