Prepared through the collaboration between Hacettepe University Faculty of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation and the Department of Machinery and Metal Technologies, the “SkillSim-VET” project has been selected for support under the Erasmus+ Policy Experimentation call, implemented by the European Education and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA).
Continuing to bring its academic expertise in health education, innovative pedagogical models, and simulation-based learning to the international arena, Hacettepe University has achieved a significant international success by participating as the coordinating institution in a competitive Europe-wide call.
The project, titled “SkillSim-VET: Embedding Basic Skills in Health VET through Immersive Simulation,” will be led and coordinated by Hacettepe University and implemented by a multidisciplinary research team comprising Prof. Dr. Sibel Aksu Yıldırım, Prof. Dr. Muhammed Kılınç, Prof. Dr. Gizem İrem Kınıklı, and Prof. Dr. Şener Karabulut.

The 36-month project aims to integrate basic skills—including literacy, mathematical/numeracy skills, digital competence, and problem-solving—into vocational education and training (VET) in the health sector through immersive simulation and scenario-based learning models.
A Strong International Consortium and Strategic Partnerships
Shaped by the Faculty of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation's longstanding expertise in simulation-based education in rehabilitation and health sciences, the multi-partner consortium includes universities and stakeholders from Portugal, Lithuania, Austria, Germany, and Italy, as well as the General Directorate of Special Education and Guidance Services of the Ministry of National Education of Türkiye, which plays a key role in national policy integration.
The project is expected to make concrete contributions to the digitalisation of health education curricula, the development of inclusive simulation models, and the formulation of strategies capable of informing international education policies.
